House for sale

I should probably say home for sale, since it's not just a house to us. Yes, we put our house on the market. We've been here for almost six years and decided it's time for a change and a little more room. Not only that, but we have a nice playset in our backyard that we won't need in a few years. We don't want to have to take it down, so hopefully the new owner's children can use it.
We're fortunate in that we didn't have to go far to find a realtor that we can trust. My Uncle John is a realtor, but since he helped us with our last move, we've hired Jason's best friend since 3rd grade to do the job. Some of you may know Jim. He's the guy that gave the greatest best man speech ever at our wedding. Jim was over today putting the lock box on the door and taking pictures. The for sale sign is to arrive later today.
Jason and I understand that the market is pretty poor right now, but we also know that if jour home sells that we could get a really good deal on a new house. So we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today is my mom's 59th birthday! I wish her the best today and all year because SHE is the best. She's not only an awesome mom, but one of the best friends I've ever had. We spend a lot of time together, mostly at Starbucks or Hobby Lobby. We complain to each other, give each other advice, or just laugh our asses off. My mom is one of the people I admire most. She is a great role model and I continue to learn from her even as an adult. When I was a child, I'm sure I didn't appreciate her as much as I should have (as I'm sure is the case with most children), but I've made up for that as an adult, especially since I've been a mother. I hope she knows how much I appreciate her and how thankful I am for our relationship. I love you, Mom!!!!!!!!!!!!

Multiplication pizza

By now, Justin has moved onto division, but when his class first began multiplication, they started these pizzas. Everyday, they would have a quiz. They started with multiplying 2's, when those were correct they got the pan for their pizza. Then they moved onto 3's and got their crust, and so on. Not all the kids in his class were on the same ingredient at the same time. They moved along at their own pace. For instance, Justin had to take his 7's quiz a few times. He was really excited when his pizza was finished. Now that all the kids have complete pizzas, they'll be having a pizza party in their classroom. I'm hoping the pizza won't be made of paper!

Feeding frenzy

The weather is finally nice here! Hopefully it'll stay this way. It's so nice to have the windows open and get outside! I was cleaning the fridge out this morning and was going to throw out some old hot dog buns. I decided to save them so Kyle and I could feed them to the fish in the pond by our house. I'm not sure what these fish are, they're pretty small. I'm assuming there are larger fish in the pond because a lot of people go fishing there. But these little guys just swim over and wait for food whenever people are near. It's pretty fun to feed them, but you have to throw a lot out there at once or they start to fight. It's not unusual to see one or two jump out of the water. Kyle, my little fish fanatic, just loves it.
This last picture is of the fish when we first walked down to the water. We hadn't even given them anything yet. They just line up and wait!

Kyle, the good citizen

Kyle just came home from school and had an award in his folder. It is a Certificate of Citizenship for being helpful awarded to him by his teacher. Like Justin, Kyle doesn't know specifically what he did to be helpful. Personally, I think that's better than knowing. It proves that he isn't doing it to be noticed. It's just the type of person he is. And his parents couldn't be more proud!

Good job, Kyle!!!!

Backyard wildlife

This morning, I was alerted to something outside by Henry, my collie, running across the family room to the window. When I looked outside, I saw this tall egret standing on our fence! There are a few ponds in our subdivision and there are often egrets around them, but we've never seen one in our backyard. It didn't stay there for long, but long enough to snap a picture.

The 2007-2008 bowling trophies

Yesterday was the last day of the 2007-2008 bowling season for Justin and Kyle. They bowl every Saturday from August to April. Kyle is in the bumper league. Justin has been bowling with out bumpers for three years. On the last day of the league they have pizza for the kids and hand out trophies. Our two boys brought home a total of SIX trophies!!! Everyone gets one for league participation. Justin's team received huge trophies for winning first place in their division and he also got one for high average. Kyle got a "most improved" trophy and one for participating in that bumper tournament last month. Both of them are very proud of their trophies, as they should be.

Bedtime

Last night at bedtime, there was a thunderstorm going on. I happen to like the sound of thunder, especially if I'm curled up in bed. Kyle hates it. He's pretty afraid of it. His fear has improved somewhat. Maybe because of what he does with his "guys" to cover his ears. He puts his two hammerhead shark stuffed animals on either side of his head. The darker one is Anchor and the lighter one is SDS (Super Duper Shark). There he is with his sharks in place lying on his fish sheets.

Justin doesn't care about thunder. But he did look cute in his bed, so here he is holding Old Guy.
