Justin's pre-birthday dinner

Justin's birthday is Wednesday, March 4th and his birthday party is Saturday, March 7th. The four of us usually go out to dinner on Saturday nights. Tonight we kicked off Justin's birthday week by letting him choose where we went to dinner. He had his mind set on ribs. He chose Friday's since they have a good rib dinner on the children's menu.

Here's Justin beginning to enjoy his dinner. And in the next picture you'll see the completely meatless bones that remain. He really goes to town on those things!

One more week

In just one more week this precious little boy is turning TEN years old! This picture was taken eight years ago, but to me, it seems like it was taken yesterday. I guess that's how a mom's brain works....
I couldn't be more proud of him though. He's such a great kid that I just have to take a deep breath and celebrate the fact that he's turning a decade old.

Yay for my mom! (and me, too)

The shoulder that my mom dislocated 6 weeks ago is officially healed! She had her last appointment with the orthopedist today. Earlier this week her physical therapist had told her that she had full range of motion in that arm, so she had a good idea she would be released. So I congratulate my mom on a job well done! I know it was important to her to get her arm back to normal and she worked really hard at therapy to do so.

As for me and my pneumonia, I feel about 80% better than I did two days ago. And that's excellent considering just how bad I felt on Wednesday! Antibiotics are one of the greatest discoveries ever made! I also rested a lot and drank MANY ounces of water and Gatorade. At this point I feel like a have a mild cold. My cough is going away and I don't feel like I'm going to pass out which is nice. I'll continue to take it easy for another day or two to ensure a full recovery.

Not so boring today

Since I wasn't feeling ANY better, I went to the doctor today. It's a good thing I did. I was diagnosed with pneunomia! (Now I really feel old.) I've had a pretty painful cough that started to loosen up and a fever on and off. Other than that, I had been sleeping a lot and when I got up in the morning, I felt NO improvement. Today was the fourth day and I'd had enough. Last night I told Jason that I felt like I was being a baby about this. I was really frustrated.
So I've started my antibiotics, have to drink a ton of fluids and get lots of rest. That's the hard part for me. I'm not the sit-around-and-do-nothing type! But this pneumonia thing is no fun, so I guess I'll do what I can do get rid of it.

A boring update

I have nothing exciting to share, but didn't want my audience to give up on me. I've been under the weather the last few days. There's been this "plague" going around at work and it got me. It doesn't help that I work with adults that can't cover their mouths when they cough and others who insist on working even when they have a fever. Anyway, I'm alive, but I've been better. I'm just trying really hard to keep my germs to myself when I'm at home.
However, we do have a couple exciting events approaching. Justin's birthday is only a few weeks away. He'll be a decade old! He loves talking about how he was born in the 1900's, like he's ancient. AND, in April we'll be on our way to sunny Florida! We've made our Disney World reservations so there's no turning back. I'm glad we're able to go, but I know I'm going to miss my dog and sleeping with no cats on the bed.

Kyle's 100th day project

The 100th day of school is this week! The first graders had to choose 100 of something that they could put on a poster. We've done this type of thing before and the boys always choose noodles. They love to eat noodles so we always have a wide variety in the cabinet. But in the past the school has said that your 100 things has to be in the shape of "100" on the poster. This year, they wanted some creativity. So of course we made a mostaccioli shark! He will be going to school tomorrow to hang in the hallway.

Anniversary flowers

Aren't they pretty? My cats will probably eat all of that baby's breath! Dorks.

It's our 12th anniversary!

Jason and I were married 12 years ago today! The weather was actually about the same as today. I just needed a day that I knew it wouldn't be humid and ruin my hair. I wasn't walking down the aisle with curly hair. Anyway...
Every year Jason and I think about how much our lives have changed since our wedding day. And how those changes have made us love each other more through the years. The biggest and most obvious difference, of course, being our sons. Jason and I would be nothing without them. We can't explain how much they mean to us and what terrific boys they are! And although Jason and I disagree with each other at times, we rarely fight. We listen to each other. We make each other laugh even when we might not want to. We're there for each other. And our favorite thing to do is just be together with our boys.
When you get married you never know for sure if it'll work out. It's so nice to look back and know that we made the right decision.

We did go out for an anniversary celebration last night. We enjoyed fondue at the Melting Pot. Yum!
